βFast-Paced & Uniqueβ
ππππ
I Know What I Saw wastes no time in jumping into the action. The fast-paced start straight away grabs attention and launches into what is ultimately a very unique plot. The main character – Xander is very likeable, his narration engaging and believable. There are points where you’re on the edge of your seat – at one point he’s hiding in a house and it’s so perfectly descriptive that it’s hard not to get fully engrossed. It doesn’t take a clear path to the conclusion either, there are a few points where there’s no clear outline to the end which is great to keep attention. There are moments where there is a little too much repetition, and the generic ‘murder mystery boy turned good’ becomes a bit bland, but then as soon as it starts teetering off slightly, something happens that snaps you straight back into the storyline. As he starts to regain his memories, so does the readers and you slowly start getting the insight you’ve been waiting for. The end feels like everything culminates very quickly – and although it’s wonderful that you suddenly get the answers you’re craving, there isn’t enough resolve or fall out to be completely satisfying. Would be great if just ONE more chapter could be added to clarify what happened after and neaten everything up!
