Day 26 – Don’t Let Them In – 31 Days Of Horror 2023 (Mini Review)

Day: 26

Film: Don’t Let Them In

Type: Cult

Country: UK

Year: 2020

Christine: 2.4 / 10

This was so bad that it wasn’t even a fun bad horror, it was just bad! The acting was terrible – the main actress has the same facial expression throughout the entire thing, whether she’s watching someone get attacked or driving in a car, it doesn’t change an inch! The characters themselves aren’t likeable or relatable, and there is too much of a focus at the beginning on them/their job/their connection before it jumps into any action. When the few horror/gore/’scare’ scenes do crop up, they’re over very quickly and amount to nothing – such a shame, they film-fished us with the plot synopsis by saying it was a film similar to ‘You’re Next’ and ‘The Purge’, what a scam!

Kenny: 2.7 / 10

Considering this movie is only 80 minutes long – you are expecting things to ramp up quickly, but this slugs on for entirely too long without much happening. The dialogue between the three characters isn’t interested enough, which means the ‘horror’ scenes wind up losing their value because you’ve lost the connection to the characters and the storyline. Also considering this was only 3 years old – this film feels VERY outdated. Pass on this one.
