For me, French horrors are some of the best, most twisted & scariest ones I’ve seen. Was hoping Ils would be up there in with the shock factor – and although it was really good, it plays it quite safe and doesn’t really go too crazy. The characters are pretty likeable and the scenes are realistic enough to give you the scare factor, and being only 75mins long it keeps the pace quick & to the point. Solid film even if I did expect slightly more from it!

Ils starts off with a banger of an opening scene – tense, shocking, believable & realistic. As the characters change, it turns into much more of a slow burn, and slightly loses momentum for a while as it picks back up steam. But once it kicks off again, it reels you back in well. I enjoyed it for what it was, probably not one I’ll remember a year from now, and doesn’t quite match up to other home invasion movies in comparison, but still a good solid movie.
