“Eclectic Dreamscape“
2.5 / 5
Los Angeles comedian Kenny Gray dresses up his sketch show in pyjamas – by creatively presenting his eclectic mix of characters as part of a dreamscape, when Kenny falls asleep.
Kenny’s characters are all loud and quirky, with a brilliantly random collection from music composers, a fridge and a tap dancing boy. Most of the sketches also include musical components, which are humorously performed, and shows off Kenny’s diverse talents.
The first of the sketches is an annoying short with an airline hostess making a variety of announcements through a muffled, feedback prone tannoy system. It’s an unfortunate opening, as it sets the tone for the rest of the sketches and is nowhere near as comedic as some of the others like the religious influencer or hotel receptionist. Some slight re-arranging of the sketches would help the show flow better and kick off the beginning with a stronger start
It’s a fun, unique way to package a sketch show – which is bookended with an enjoyably sung introduction to his delightfully bonkers dreamscape.
