Skulk (Short Film) – British Horror Film Festival 2024

Short Film: Skulk

Writers: Max Ward & Carmen Fortea
Directors: Max Ward

Runtime: 7 minutes

Short Film Rating: 8.4 / 10

Anyone living in London is more than familiar with the annoying, screeching fox sounds that play on repeat outside your window each night. Writer & Director Max Ward re-imagines these fox calls to instead be warning noises – alerting humans when the mysterious night creatures are nearby. It’s a fun concept, that is brilliantly executed as a creepy, tension-ridden short film. Elina Gavare excellently conveys the realistic confusion, fear and discomfort that she feels, as she tries to figure out what the strange noises inside her house are. The bedroom setting is uncomfortably familiar, adding a creepily believable aspect to the storyline, that’ll have you second guessing those foxes next time they’re delaying your bedtime!
