Short Film Rating: 7.8 / 10
Bex (Laura Dalgleish) tours pubs around the UK, hoping to finally make it as a successful singer and live the life she’s always dreamed of. Her daughter Rhian (Mandy Rose) is there for every gig – no matter how empty or disappointing the night turns out to be, picking up the pieces and supporting her mum’s ambitions. But creepy pub landlord Morian (Steve Spiers) leches over her mum one too many times, forcing Rhian to have her moment in the spotlight and take control instead. Josh Harris’s narrative is brilliantly ominous, its slow-paced build-up successful in drawing you into the world of the well-written characters. Spiers is fantastically believable, Dalgleish’s character is likeable and Rose adds the layer of intrigue that keeps you hooked throughout.
