Backmask takes a classic narrative of selling your soul for fame and notoriety and expands on it with grandiose visuals and a brilliant cast. The lavish mansion immediately sets the scene, as agent Angus (Charlie Rix) tries to extend the after party with two fans at 1970’s rock star Billy Chapman’s (David Shields) house. The atmosphere is suitably unsettling, as Chapman slowly but intensely descends into desperation to land on another hit single. The characters are well fleshed-out considering it’s only 18 minutes long, and you’re left wanting to see the aftermath once the credits roll!
