Knickers Forever – the shop that finds out all of their customers most intimate secrets: the affairs they’re having, the kinks they’re into, and of course, what undies they’re wearing when they’re doing the deed.
Best friends, Agent (Mollie Blue) and Bimbo (Poppy-Anne Taplin) live and work together, spending most of their day judging their customers or flirting with the boy from the records shop next door (Ryan Dickson) to ensure he continues emptying their bins or bringing them donuts. They sell as much product as possible, try (and fail) to keep the mannequin from looking disheveled, and do their best not to fancy the male buyers – with varying success.
A day in the life of a knicker shop is exactly as you would expect – a little raunchy, a lot ridiculous and a humorously observant comedic style about the various customers and interactions in the shop. With a similar style to a sitcom pilot, it’s packed with gags and encounters that keep the audience engaged in the silly and saucy goings on. Sometimes the humour is a little too slapstick, with Bimbo’s character especially being a tad too over-exaggerated (think a Miranda-esque canned laughter type character). Overall it’s a funny show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, with the three actors working well together and bouncing off each others punchlines. Dickson’s ‘The Perv’ character in particular is brilliantly ick-inducing, with Dickson’s unashamed commitment to the dirty talking prank caller expertly done.
Blue finishes the show with an unexpectedly reflective scene, as she lets Agent’s walls come down and bares her feelings without the plastered retail ready facade. It’s a nice touch, that provides more heart and personality to some of the stories told, and adds to a more well-rounded overall production.
