The Missing Hours – Julia Dahl

β€œBit Far-Fetched”

Focusing on the aftermath of an assault, this book started out interesting, but honestly did start to drag out a little and get a bit boring. Rather than a more realistic approach, the main character was a celebrity billionaire’s daughter, so it stopped being relatable and became a slightly strange, salacious revenge quest. None of the male characters in the book come off very well, even Trevor, who was supposed to be supporting Claudia, was creepy and obsessive – yet another guy wrapped in Claudia’s orbit, which made it hard to get behind him and his motivations. I did like that it explored the subject matter of assault and the ramifications of people’s actions, I just wish it was more identifiable, or less far-fetched because I started tuning out!
